Morfeo is a photographic series that translates that moment in between consciousness and unconsciousness, between reality and dreams into an image.
A starting point for this project was a condition known as sleep pa- ralysis. Sleep paralysis is a state, during waking up or falling asleep, in which a person is aware but unable to move or speak. Durin an episode, one may hallucinate (hear, feel, or see things that are not there), which often results in fear.
Two main elements are of importance in the series. The first one is the reality and physicality of the body that enters this mental state. The second one is the abstracted achieved through six-hour-long ex- posures of the bed while sleeping, creating dream-like scenarios.
Colour, intimacy, and simplicit are some of the key elements that define the photographic language in Morfeo.
