Miguel Rózpide (b. 1997, Pontevedra, Spain) is a multimedia artist currently based in Antwerp, Belgium. His practice explores the psychic distances and physical artefacts of human connection, utilising analog photography and archival processes to investigate how memory and history are stored, neglected, and reconfigured.
Rózpide’s work is less concerned with the "perfect" image than with the conceptual systems that govern it. He often subverts traditional representation by elevating the material decay of historical records, such as mold growth, water stains, and broken frames, to the status of subjects in their own right. Central to his research is the tension between existential isolation and the ritual of contact. By documenting the "blind spots" of shared experiences and the arbitrary numbering systems of family archives, he explores the dual truth that no two people ever inhabit the same moment in exactly the same way.
